Little Big Planet 2 Revealed Via Game Informer

Far be it from me to nab information from magazines and post them here, but this news was too awesome to pass up. Game Informer has revealed that Little Big Planet 2 will be making it’s way to PlayStation 3 consoles in 2010.

I won’t post all of the information, but some interesting tidbits, courtesy of an article on Playstation Informer has me really excited for it’s release. You can read the full list at the link above, but here are some things I found worth noting about Little Big Planet 2:

“As examples, the game 100% encourages the player to create game types and wants you to make a shooter, a racer, puzzle games, Space Invaders clones, even RPGs

– There is a major overhaul to the story level as well. There’s the same 3-plane perspective for the story mode and the levels so far have a similar run-jump-grab platform style.

– A player can even customize a HUD. The example given is a health bar for a fighting game.

– All DLC from LBP1 transfers over to LBP2. Including downloaded content packs, costumes, etc.

– A Media Molecule developer has created a fully-functioning Command & Conquer Clone”

Being a diehard fan of the first LBP, the potential of this new one is simply staggering, if all of the purported features are to be believed. Sony already proved with the original (and with titles like Mod Nation Racers), that gamers absolutely LOVE to express their creativity and share it with other gamers. Considering the 2 million strong plus levels that populate the original LBP servers, I can’t wait to sift through a wide variety of genres courtesy of the community for part 2.
