Genre: Um…interactive…art?

Platforms: PlayStation 3/PSN

Developer: thatgamecompany

Price: $14.99 (USD)

Warning: Possible incoming hyperbole and gushing.

Now that that’s out of the way, we can move on. When I purchased my PlayStation 3 sometime in early 2007, I only owned one game: Resistance: Fall of Man. I soon added another title to that list; a serene, simple little game called flOw, from thatgamecompany.

FlOw originally started as a flash game playable on the computer, and was brought to the PlayStation 3 as one of the first downloadable titles on it’s fledgling PSN service.

I found flOw very compelling. It was simple, easy to control (and doing a good job of utilizing the PS3’s Sixaxis motion controller), and it was enjoyable guiding your little aquatic creature thing through various levels of oceanic depth. While I may not have been blown away or mesmerized, flOw, at the least, put thatgamecompany on my list of “Developers to keep an eye on.” Continue reading

inFAMOUS 2 Beta Impressions

Posted in Editorials, Industry, Playstation 3, PSN, Screenshots with tags , , , , on April 15, 2011 by Stefano Terry

Hey, folks! I know it’s been awhile, but it’s been a crazy busy few weeks for yours truly! However, I come today with some little, hopefully not bannable tidbits of information from the recently began inFAMOUS 2 Beta from Sucker Punch.

I’m not sure how much is allowed to be discussed concerning the beta, but I’m keeping it general, and hopefully will not get into too much trouble.

I was certainly surprised to find an invite in my mailbox earlier this week, and eagerly downloaded the 1.9gig install. After loading up the game, I was given a brief video tutorial about what to expect from the beta. After the video, I was in the shoes of Cole McGrath; Electric Dude. Continue reading

Favorite Games of 2010

This year, I’ve decided to do things a little differently than my usual Best Of awards. Seeing as though I’m not a definitive authority on what the best games of the year are, I thought I’d just outright tell you about the games I personally enjoyed throughout 2010. Agree, disagree, leave comments about your own personal favorites, it’s all good. One thing is for certain though, 2010 was a fantastic year for gaming, and I had a great time. So, here are my personal favorite games of 2010. Continue reading

E3 2010: The Rest of The Photos

Posted in Editorials, Industry, Photos, Screenshots on October 26, 2010 by Stefano Terry

Hey guys! Here are the remainder of my photos from this year’s E3! I had a great time, though I didn’t get to play much of anything. It’s always a blast to see the spectacle of E3, however. I’m always excited to see what the developers have up their sleeves. Some of the games that impressed me the most were Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (review incoming), Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Hard Corps Rising, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, and DC Universe Online.

I wasn’t sold on Kinect or the PlayStation MOVE, but I’ll reserve judgment until I can play them for myself. Seeing as MOVE has released already, I’ll be sure to try and get some hands on time as soon as my schedule clears. In the mean time, enjoy the photos! I have a lot of catching up to do, but reviews of Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Deathspank, Costume Quest, Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake, Halo: Reach, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Fallout: New Vegas, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and much more are coming in the near future, so stay tuned!

Hey guys and gals! Sorry for the delay, but here are a bunch of the pictures I took during my trip to the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2010. I had a blast, and I’ll be talking more about the games I played in the coming days to come, as I’ll be starting at my new job at Konami this week, and will be pretty busy.
