Sony just announced this morning via Playstation Blog that they are releasing the God of War Collection this holiday season. The package includes the first two God of War games, running with smoother visuals (running at 720p), framerate, and Trophies. Not only that, but the package will also ship on a Blu Ray disc, meaning that all PS3 owners will be able to enjoy quite possibly the best Action/Adventure series on the Playstation 2, without the need for PS2 BC.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t mind Sony doing more of these upgraded re-releases in the future. Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, each with better visuals/framerates, and Trophies? Sounds like a great idea.

The package will retail for $39.99 (USD). No specific release date has been given.

Review: Final Fantasy: Dissidia

Final Fantasy: Dissidia, is a rather easy game to describe, but a son of a gun to review.

The easy, is it’s premise: The Gods Cosmos and Chaos are battling it out for supremecy, but both are too evenly matched to make any headway. It’s a stalemate on a godly level, no pun intended. To try and tip the scales to their favor, however, they begin to recruit warriors of great strength. Of course, for the sake of the video game, the warriors are characters from 20 years of Final Fantasy history, from FF1 through to FFXII.

Playstation 3 Buyer’s Guide For Newcomers

Posted in Editorials, Game Deals, Playstation 3, PSP with tags , , , on August 28, 2009 by Stefano Terry

Remember when the Playstation 3 was $599? It was practically impossible to afford the system, let alone games. Even when it dropped to $400, it left very little wiggle room for buying software to even use on the system.

Well, with the announcement of the PS3 Slim, priced at $299, and a price cut to $299 for all other Playstation 3 SKU’s, there has never been a better time to pick one up. But hey, now you have some extra cash in your pocket, what are you going to spend it on?

I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 Playstation 3 titles, budget priced, that are worth snagging for your new system (in no particular order, mind you).

Insomniac has just dropped the release date for their upcoming futuristic platformer, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time via Twitter (I know, I know), and it looks like the dynamic duo will be landing on Playstation 3 consoles on October 27th.

I’m a diehard R&C fan, so this is great news for me, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Review

The history of Batman in video games is a troubled one, although I have to say he’s faired a bit better than most other superheroes that have undergone the video game treatment (ie, Superman), but there has yet to be a truly definitive Batman video game. Well, until now. Without hyperbole, I can say that Batman: Arkham Asylum is the best licensed superhero video game ever, and even if you aren’t a fan of the Caped Crusader’s exploits, the genuinely excellent gameplay should make you overlook the fact that you are controlling a man in bat tights.

Killzone 2, Resistance 2, And Motorstorm: Pacific Rift Become Platinum Hits

Word from the grapevine is the Playstation 3’s Platinum Hits (UK)/Greatest Hits (US) line has gotten 3 titles larger as Killzone 2, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, and Resistance 2 join the club.

The games will now retail at the low low price of $29.99 (USD). No other word on when the price drops are slated to happen or how that translates into Pounds and Euros, but with the price cut of the PS3 to $299, the upcoming release of the PS3 Slim next week, and the addition of 3 of the best games on the PS3 to the Platinum Hits/Greatest Hits line, and I have to say Sony is playing a rather aggressive game of hardball for this holiday season.

I recommend all 3 games for purchase, as they are truly quality, and loads of fun.

3D Dot Heroes

From Software is publishing a new PS3 game, and it’s anything but traditional. Developed by Silicon Studio and titled “3D Dot Game Heroes,” the game is a classic styled RPG with a twist. Instead of 2D sprites, the game is made up of, well, 3D Sprites (see screenshot above).

Review: Shadow Complex (XBLA)

Shadow Complex, in short, is kickass. Since I’m sure that just won’t do as a review, I’ll elaborate.

What Shadow Complex lacks in depth of story and complexity of character (no pun intended), it makes up for it with fun, addicting gameplay that harkens back to a day when games were actually, you know, designed, instead of manufactured by committee.

New PSN Title Dead Nation Announced

Posted in News, Playstation 3, PSN with tags , , , , on August 18, 2009 by Stefano Terry

Super Stardust HD developer Housemarque has announced a new PSN exclusive title, Dead Nation. As the title emplies, the game is about the dead, or rather, the undead. Players look to assume the role of a human survivor who must contend with horde after horde of zombies. It looks like other top down PSN shooter Burn Zombie Burn, but with a much more mature slant.

Super Stardust HD is still one of the best titles on the Playstation Network, so I have high hopes for this new game. No pricing or release date have been given as yet, but check out the trailer at the link below.
