Mass Effect 2 Alternate Appearance DLC Landing on PC and Xbox 360.

Bioware has announced that they will be releasing a downloadable content pack for their epic Sci Fi adventure Mass Effect 2.

The content will be additional costumes for Garrus, Jack, and Thane. The pack will launch on March 23rd for the Xbox 360 and PC, and cost $2.

Heavy Rain DLC Hitting April 1st

The first additional content for Quantic Dream’s PS3 exclusive thriller, Heavy Rain, will arrive on the Playstation Network April 1st.

Entitled, “The Taxidermist,” the DLC will focus on journalist Madison Paige as she investigates what she believes to be a suspect in an ongoing murder investigation. In typical Heavy Rain fashion, your choices can determine one of many different endings. The DLC will cost $4.99.

ModNation Racers Release Date Revealed

Chuck Lascon, Associate Product Marketing Manager at SCEA has revealed today via PlayStation Blog that San Diego Studios and United Front’s entry into the “Play, Create, Share” genre, ModNation Racers, is hitting PlayStation 3 consoles exclusively on May 25th.

On top of the release date announcement, they revealed that there will be Kratos, Ratchet and Clank, and Nathan Drake character available as pre-order bonuses. Pre-ordering from Amazon will net you Ratchet and Clank, Gamestop will award you with Kratos, and Best Buy will net you Nathan Drake.

Any fan of the cart racing genre will more than likely get a kick out of MNR. I spent a little time in the beta, and I came away impressed.  It is definitely a title that I’m keeping an eye out on.

Media Molecule Bought By Sony

Looks like the suits at Sony REALLY loved Little Big Planet, because they just announced today via the European Playstation Blog that they purchased the game’s developer, Media Molecule, making them an official First Party studio of Sony Computer Entertainment.

The acquisition seemed like a no-brainer, given the runaway success of Little Big Planet. Smart move by Sony, and it ensures that Media Molecule will get the backing they need to continue to make excellent games.

Heavy Rain Review

I remember playing Indigo Prophecy back in 2005 and being amazed by it’s unique blend of cinematic story-telling, high tension scenarios, quick time events, and compelling narrative. It wasn’t a perfect game, but it had such wonderful potential in what it was trying to achieve, after the credit’s rolled, I couldn’t wait to see what developer, Quantic Dream, had in store next.

Fast-forward another year, and they lifted the curtain on Heavy Rain, which at the time was nothing more than a “Casting Call” demo showcasing their attempts to capture a wide array of emotional extremes in a digital character. It was nonetheless impressive, but I couldn’t help but wonder what the title would be about. I got my answer soon enough, when they finally revealed that the game would be an intense “interactive drama,” revolving around 4 characters and how their lives are affected by the Origami Killer, who has been kidnapping and murdering young boys. Does Director David Cage, and his team at Quantic Dream pull off their ambitions? Read on to find out. Continue reading
